I ♥ Redecorating!

Last week’s Smell the Roses challenge was to redecorate something in your home. I love redecorating things in my apartment, although I’m not very good at it. Ask the boyfriend how many times I’ve moved things around on our mantle. Probably at least once a week. I just can’t seem to get it right.  Anyway, here are a few little additions that I added to the apartment this weekend.

I bought this little bowl to put on my nightstand to put my jewelry and glasses at night.

My new placemat from Target with some fresh flowers (oh, in our new vase that we bought in San Fran that I mentioned here). The salt + pepper shakers are actually little elephants kissing (held together with magnets). My friend Heather bought them for me for Christmas. I love them!

And last but not least, the mantle. I think I am almost done re-arranging things. I just need to get some tall fake flowers for the light teal vase. I also need to pick out a new picture or print for the white frames as those are just temporary.

Linking up with Jessica from Lovely Little Things for Smell the Roses Monday. Hop on over to join the fun!! :)

Blah, It’s Only Wednesday

I am so ready for the weekend already! Three more days of work though and then hopefully the weather is nice for the weekend!

Here are a few things I am in  with lately. Linking up for What I’m Loving Wednesday.

( new photo editing apps for my iPhone )
Since I still have yet to buy a good camera I have to use my lovely iPhone 4 camera. I wish I had the 4S even because that camera is so much better than mine. Here are my favorite new apps – in no particular order.

Camera+ – $0.99
Pixlr-o-matic – Free
Pocketbooth – $0.99

( fifty shades of grey )
Like every other woman reading this series, I am completely addicted. I. cannot. put. it. down. Almost done with the first one. I saw this SNL commercial spoof yesterday and was laughing out loud at my desk. So funny.

( orly shani on fashion star )
I haven’t watched this week’s episode yet, but I already know what happens. And I’m sad. Orly is not the FashionStar and I sooo wanted her to be (sorry if I’m spoiling this for someone else). I wish that Saks wouldn’t have bought all her designs too. I mean, great for her obviously, but I can’t afford a single thing at that store. Ugh! She only sold one dress to h+m…maybe I should go check it out! I can’t wait until her tuc + wes line comes out. Love her!

( exploring the idea of a new hair cut and color )
I can’t have the same consistent hair color and/or cut for longer than a year. It’s just not my style – pun intended. :) I am thinking of going shorter, but still shoulder length so I can curl it if I want to. Also, I think I am going to put a lot more blonde highlights for the summer, but still a bit of red. Kind of like this girl (although the picture is a little on the darker side).

And the other big change is that I want to grow my bangs out to be a bit longer. I know I still need bangs because of my face shape, but I think I might like the look of these longer bangs on me. What do you think?

Well, That Was Relaxing

I took the entire weekend to catch up on sleep and on some much needed reading. Since our trip to San Fran I felt like my internal schedule was all out of whack. It’s amazing what a 2-hour time change will do. The sad thing is that I didn’t even leave my apartment all weekend except to take the dogs out. And yes, that is plural. We are fostering this little ball of cuteness for the next week.

Her name is Corky, and she is already super attached to me. And I may be a little attached to her too. When we were bringing her home in the car I seriously had my doubts about her. She was flipping out. Thank goodness she just hates car rides because as soon as we got her home she was fine.

I finally finished reading all of the Hunger Games books this weekend. I was half-way through 2, and I just kept going and finished the 3rd too. I have to say that I liked the ending. I won’t ruin it for those that haven’t read it, but I actually liked book 3 a lot. More than the first part of the 2nd. I was struggling to get through it.

Now that I’ve finished the Hunger Games I have started this trilogy.

Can’t wait to see what all the hype is about. Sorry for the lame post – I’ll be back tomorrow with a more interesting post. Happy Monday!

Fiesta Friday

You know…the Friday before Cinco de Mayo. Can’t wait to drink margaritas and eat Mexican food all day long on Saturday!

Linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk for High Five for Friday. Here are my five favorites from this week.

I received my Send Something Good package in the mail earlier this week from the wonderful Natalie at Fake Rain. She totally hooked me up with some great stuff! I’ll be posting later on this month (for the official link-up) about all the fun things she sent me. And the good news is I think they are going to do another one for those of you that missed out on this goodie swap.

Now that we are home from vacation we are going to foster a puppy through a local pet rescue organization called Paws. I am just waiting to get an email back saying we can come pick up the little guy/gal. I can’t wait to have another puppy for Crosby to play with! We will get him/her for a two week time period. Unless of course I can somehow convince Evan to keep it.

On Wednesday night I had volunteer orientation for another local non-profit organization called Bright Pink. For those of you that watch Guiliana and Bill Rancic’s show you may have heard about them. They offer support and education to young women that are at high-risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer. They focus mostly on those that are at high-risk, but also help all young women that want to know how to be proactive about their health. I am so excited to start volunteering! Being aware of your family history and your current health is important for every woman. So educate yourself and don’t forget to feel yourself up once a month too! You can even sign up for Bright Pink’s Underwire Alerts that will send you a monthly text reminder to check for any abnormalities. Pretty cute and funny if you ask me.

The other night Evan and I went to the grocery store for our weekly run. I have been trying to collect coupons for the past couple of months and it finally paid off a bit. We saved a combined $45 with our coupons – 30% of our total amount. I know it’s not “extreme couponing” by any means, but it’s better than nothing. Yay for coupons!

Nicki Minaj released her Summer tour dates for the US, and I cannot be more excited. Her first stop is in Chicago on July 16th at the Chicago Theater. Tickets go on sale today and I can’t wait to buy them for me and a girlfriend!

 Have a great weekend!
