This past weekend I ran a 5K called the Color Run. I’m sure the majority of you have seen pictures on Pinterest of the run, but I thought I’d share my experience too. It was such a blast, and I can’t wait to run again next year. Hopefully next year Chicago will step up their game though and allow more people to run. I had to run in the Indianapolis one because the Chicago one sold out so fast. Oh well. It was still so much fun!
Here is the before picture – all clean in white.
Waiting in line to start. It took forever!
I loved this sculpture! It fit perfectly into the event too.
And here is the after! Lauren got a huge pile of purple chalk in her hair. She told me that even after washing it twice it didn’t come out either. Ahhh!
My favorite part of the day was at the after-run celebration where everyone would throw chalk at the same time. Here is the best picture I got of it. I had to keep my phone in a baggy so that it didn’t get ruined and a lot of the pictures didn’t turn out that great.
And here is a fun before and after picture of my hand. Haha. I had to scrub forever to get all of it off.
And I’d have to agree, the Color Run is the happiest 5K on the planet. Definitely doing it again next year. Hope you all had a great weekend too!
Like I mentioned yesterday, I was back home in Indiana to participate in Race for the Cure. For those of you that don’t know, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago this July. I started a team for her last year (the MammerJammers) and will continue to do this every year!
We had around 33 people on the team this year, which is actually more than I thought we’d get! The weather was absolutely horrible (40s and very gloomy), but I’m glad it didn’t scare people away from coming to support my mom. It meant so much to her (and me) that everyone came out to walk with us. I already can’t wait until next year’s race!
One of my favorite songs to work out to! 🙂
I have been doing really well with exercising every day, however, I’m getting a little sick of my weekend workouts. It’s winter, so I’m limited to indoor at-home workouts. All I have right now is Jillian Michael’s 30-Day Shred. I love it, don’t get me wrong, but I need a few others that I can switch in here and there. This is where you come in. Do you have any good work-out videos that you recommend? I also like to do videos in the morning before work, so if you have any suggestions for good (meaning I will SWEAT), 30 minutes or less workouts please feel free to suggest!
Has anyone tried any of the following?
Last summer my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a long year for her of battling chemotherapy and multiple surgeries (I think 5 total). I can’t even imagine what it would be like to go through any of it. It was also pretty hard on me because I couldn’t be with her all the time since I was up in Chicago. I went home as much as I could to spend time with her, but I just felt like I wanted to do more. I wanted to do something special for her to show her how much I care and admire her. So I started a Race For The Cure team (of Central Indiana) to surprise her. I invited all of her friends, family and coworkers to join the team. We had a total of 55 team members and also raised a total of $2,210. I was super excited about how everything turned out. On April 16th, our team walked the 5K race in honor of my mom. And most importantly, I can officially call my mom a SURVIVOR of breast cancer! She is now in remission, and I cannot tell you how good it feels to say that. I already can’t wait to organize Team MammerJammers again next year!
Team MammerJammers. Not everyone made the picture unfortunately, and the weather also scared some people away.
Me and my “little” brother, Ebby. (more…)
