A Very Pink V-Day Party

I decided that I’m going to host a little Valentine’s Day themed girls night out party at my apartment in a few weeks. Below is a little bit of inspiration I found on Pinterest. Of course the whole party will be shades of pink!

Merry Thanksmas!

A few weeks ago Evan and I hosted the second annual Thanksmas celebration with our friends in Chicago. Thanksmas is a celebration we created that combines Thanksgiving and Christmas (and usually falls on a weekend between the two). It is a Thanksgiving potluck (often called Friendsgiving) and Christmas party combined into one! For the Christmas tradition there was a Dirty Santa/White Elephant gift exchange.

Each place setting had a candy cane with a name tag tied to it. We used clear plastic plates for easy clean-up too. Well, that and the fact that we don’t have matching plates for 12+ people.

The drink table featured a tray of glasses as well as the rest of the refreshments.

Different ribbons were tied to the wine/champagne stems as drink markers – so easy and festive.

Spiked apple cider was the signature drink of the party and a huge hit. The idea came from here, but I just mixed apple cider and caramel vodka. It was so good!

Oreo cookie balls – recipe here. I just used white chocolate as the coating instead and added sprinkles. Just warning you these are a bit time consuming to make and messy!

Funfetti cake dip. Basically the best thing ever invented. Recipe can be found here. This recipe is soo simple. I just mix the ingredients and refrigerate until ready to serve. You can use animal crackers, teddy grahams, graham cracker squares (or any other small cookie) to dip with.

As for the white elephant portion of the night – the worst gift (or best depending on how you look at it) was a toilet seat and toilet paper. Don’t worry the toilet seat was not used prior. It was such a fun night, and I already can’t wait for next year’s party!

Dana’s Baby Shower

This past weekend I helped throw a baby shower for one of my best friends, Dana. It’s her first little one (and the first of all our friends to have a baby actually) so we were super excited. I had so much fun helping put together some of the little details for the shower. Dana and her husband aren’t finding out the sex of the baby so we took the colors of the nursery as the theme – light green, aqua blue, brown and bits of lavender. I didn’t get to take many pictures before everyone jumped in on the delicious food though. Can’t wait to meet this little guy/girl (on/around January 26th)!

Dollar store candles made cute favors for each guest. I just removed the tops and added some fabric in the color of the shower.

The yummiest cupcakes ever – the ones on the left had a cookie dough center. So good!

We used iced coffee bottles as the serving glasses. They were actually generic brand Starbucks frappuccino bottles from Aldi. Much cheaper than the Starbucks brand and easier to remove the labels.

The best puppy chow in the world. Seriously.

Best friends since junior high school. Love these ladies!
