My Current Obsession

Linking up for Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday.

I am in  with natural/rustic wood furniture lately. If you follow me on Pinterest or Instagram you may have heard me talk about it. I am obsessed. I want everything in my apartment to be natural wood. Just kidding. But I’ve already got the headboard (check it out here) so now I’m just working on the end tables for the living room. Pictures to come as soon as they are completely finished. If you find me on Instagram though you can get a sneak peek (srklivansky is my username).

So this week I’m sharing my favorite natural wood Pinterest finds.

Weekend Fun…and Lots of it!

It’s Friday, and I could not be happier! I have lots of fun things planned for this weekend. In fact, I’m sharing five things as a part of High Five for Friday (linking up here).

1. Pump Room for dinner & drinks tonight for a girlfriend’s birthday
Supposedly it’s the hip place to go in Chicago right now. I had actually never heard of it until a couple of days ago. I’m super pumped to try it out (and yes, cheeeesy pun). The decor looks fun too! I even bought a cute new dress to wear.

2. Beachin’ it on Saturday
I’ve only been to the beach (and by beach I mean the Lake Michigan beach, so it’s not real per se) once this year, and that is not okay. I can’t wait to take a wonderful nap under the sun. Although I have do a better job of applying sunscreen this weekend. I cannot end up like a lobster like I did after the Indy 500. Ooops!

3. Old Town Art Fair
I’ve never been before, but I cannot wait to check out all the artwork. Evan and I definitely need some artwork for the apartment so maybe I’ll find something that stands out. The picture above is from a few years ago, but I really like that red and orange painting in the middle.

4. Wrigleyville Fun
I live right behind the bars in Wrigleyville (they are literally behind my apartment) so I guess you could say I am there all the time. But this weekend we are going out to celebrate a girldfriend’s birthday (the same one from above). I haven’t been out to a bar in awhile so I’m excited. I’ve been trying to take it easy on the alcohol lately, but after last weekend’s beer margaritas I think I might have to make them again. They were so delicious! I got the recipe from here. I’m warning you now – they are very, very strong.

5. Chill and Grill Festival
The company I work for (well BHG is actually only part of Meredith) is co-hosting (along with Weber Grill) a festival in Waveland Park called the Better Homes & Gardens Chill and Grill. There will be food and beer tastings from some of the top restaurants in the city (Chicago Cut Steakhouse, GT Fish & Oyster, Black Dog Gelato just to name a few). They are going to have grilling demonstrations (Evan is excited for those) and music too. If you live in Chicago I would definitely recommend checking it (open Saturday and Sunday).

Going to be a fun weekend! What are you all up to this weekend? Happy Friday!!

My Send Something Good Reveal

I mentioned here that I was participating in the Send Something Good project. Well, it’s finally time to reveal what I got my blogger and the amazing package I received.

I had the lovely Alli from Beautiful Family Affairs. I will admit that it was a little tricky getting to know her. I think I read almost every post on her blog until I got a few ideas of things she would like. Hopefully she enjoyed her package. I got her some cute stationary with her initial, gluten-free shortbread cookies, a Chicago mug, recipe cards/shopping list, and a pretty scarf.

Now, on to the best package ever. Natalie from Fake Rain completely spoiled me. I mean, I could barely fit everything in one picture.

She did such a great job finding out what I liked. I love every single thing that she sent me! Here are a few instagram photos that I have posted over the past weeks of me using all the wonderful items she sent me.

Also, I posted here about how I rearranged the mantle in our living room. Do you notice the Julie & Julia book she got me? I just love the turquoise color of the book and it goes perfectly with the colors in our living room.

Natalie got me so much great stuff that I haven’t even had time to use everything yet, but I will. Thanks again to Natalie for such a great surprise. It honestly made my month to get this. I can’t imagine how much time, effort and money went into it. Thanks girl – you are awesome! Also, be sure to check out her blog by clicking the link below!

If you all missed out on Send Something Good – don’t worry! They are doing another one soon. Not entirely sure when, but just keep an eye out on Gentri Lee, Kaitlyn, and Kristy‘s blogs for the announcement.

It’s Been Awhile My Friends

I’m sure all 10,000 of you have been coming to my blog every day to see something new (joke). But seriously, I know I have been slacking – majorly. Every since I started Fifty Shades of Grey (strongly suggest you read the series if you haven’t already) I kind of didn’t give myself time to do anything else. Then I finished, and I still had no motivation to do anything. Not sure what happened but I accomplished more today than I did all last week. I worked out, counted calories in MyFitnessPal, painted my nails, did laundry and now I’m blogging.

Here is what I’m currently loving right now. (Linking up for What I’m Loving Wednesday)

1. Two 4-day work weeks in a row!! I have this Friday off and of course Monday for Memorial Day. Yay for short work weeks and long fun weekends!

2. My new Summer nail polish – Essie’s “bikini so teeny”. It’s part of their new collection. I wanted to buy all of them!

3. I am going to the Indy 500 this weekend. I. Cannot. Wait. If you’ve never been to the Indy 500 – well I suggest that you make a trip. It’s definitely a super fun experience (and it’s completely different than NASCAR).

4. The Avengers! I took Evan to see it last week for his birthday, and I loved it. I may or may not have a crush on Thor (Chris Hemsworth). His deep voice…ohh goodness. I have no idea if that’s Chris Hemworth’s real voice or not, but I love it. Ironman is still my favorite though, and Robert Downey Jr. is pretty funny in it.

And now I’m linking up with Gentri for 7 Questions!

1. What’s your favorite style for home decor? (eclectic, modern, shabby chic, etc.) See this is where I need Emily Henderson to give me a style diagnostic since I’m a little lost. If I had to guess though I’d be somewhere along the lines of rustic modern. You know, if it’s actually possible to blend those two things.
2. What is the best trip you have EVER been on? I love traveling so it’s honestly really hard to pick just one. Probably either my cruise this past year or my very first cruise (senior year of high school spring break).
3. If you could have an exotic pet, what would it be and why? An elephant! I have no idea where I’d put it, but I want one. Maybe soon they’ll make mini-elephants for pets. Kind of like the Petite Lap Giraffes. 🙂
4. Do you snore? (you can be honest, we’re all friends here.) Not that I know of. I have been known to talk in my sleep a bit though.
5. Your car breaks down on the side of the road, what do you do? Call my dad, of course!
6. What’s one item that has been on your wishlist lately? A new puppy! I want one soooo bad. I really really really want an English Bulldog.
7. It’s almost Summer (or winter if you live in the Southern Hemisphere), what are you looking forward to most? Being outside ALL the time. Chicago Summers are the best! The street festivals, concerts in the park, beach days, restaurant patios, etc. really do make you fall back in love with Chicago after the dreadful winter.
